There are 850 Ventra Retail Locations in and around Chicago, including small business, major drugstores and Currency Exchanges.

At retail locations, you can get new cards or load fare to a Ventra transit account right over the counter.

What you can do at Ventra retailers

At retail locations, you can:

Buy new Ventra Cards
Load transit value into a Ventra Card's transit account, contactless bankcard or mobile device
Load passes into a Ventra Card, contactless bankcard or mobile device

Value and passes you load at retail locations are available in your Ventra transit account for use on buses and trains right away.
Even if you’ve set up autoload on the website, you can still load value and any pass you like in one-time increments at retailers. For example, even if you have autoload set up for regular transit value, you can walk into a retail location and load a CTA 3-Day Pass into your account and start using it right away—autoload will simply keep working, as needed.
Depending on the retailer, you may be able to use cash, credit, debit or even checks—ask the retailer what kind of payment methods they accept.
If you buy a Ventra Card from a retailer, your card is activated and ready for use by loading value or passes at the time you purchase it. The New Card Fee is returned to you as transit value if you register your Card within 90 days, which can be used for regular fares or applied toward the purchase of a pass.
